USA's basketball team thrashed Nigeria's D'Tigers 110-66 in a pre-Rio 2016 friendly game at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas yesterday August 1st. Carmelo Anthony led the way with 19 points, Klay Thompson scored 17, Kevin Durant 14, DeMar DeRozan 13, DeAndre Jordan and DeMarcus Cousins 10 each.

'Again, UK Telegraph is strengthening Boko Haram terrorism' - Presidency says


The presidency has released a statement reacting to an article on UK Telegraph, titled “Children Face Death by Starvation in Northern Nigeria" which was published on Saturday July 30th. The news platform said Western officials are worried that President Buhari is using some of the financial aid from UK to persecute Christian political rivals instead of tackling Islamist militants, Boko Haram.

A statement by a deputy director in the ministry, Benjamim Goong, said the new chief executives had been invited to meet with the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu tomorrow Tuesday August 2nd.

Niger Delta militants jettison decision to declare Niger Delta Republic today, say Jonathan appealed to them


Ijaw Militant group, the Adaka Boro Avengers (ABA), who vowed to declare the Independent Republic of Niger Delta today August 1st, have jettisoned the decision saying former President Goodluck Jonathan reached out and appealed to them to rescind on their decision. The group stated this in a statement released this evening.

Nigeria will disintegrate before Buhari's very eyes if any more innocent blood is shed- FFK



The former Aviation Minister said this in a new post he shared on his Facebook wall. It reads
"On 29th July 2016, CNN reported that "the Nigerian government is preparing troops for a crackdown in the Niger Delta if peace talks fail". This is sad and ominous. As United States Senator Ted Cruz once said "the light of truth is stronger than the terror of darkness". It follows that the biggest mistake that the Buhari administtation can possibly make is to attempt to "crack down" on the Niger Delta and kill innocent civilians.

The remains of former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has been finally laid to rest at his hometown Ilah in Delta state. At his grave side were his children, family members, well wishers and friends. May his soul rest in peace Amen.

The United States Government, today donated six Laptop computers to the EFCC during a courtesy visit to the Commission's Headquarters in Abuja. The Director, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, USA, Roselyn Wiase, who led the six man delegation urged the Commission to continue in its vigorous fight against Corruption. 

Sokoto uncovers 13,000 ghost workers in LGAs


Sokoto State Government said it has discovered no fewer than 12,915 ghost workers whose names were added into the payroll of the 23 Local Governments Areas of the state.

The State Commissioner for Local Governments and Community Development, Alhaji Mannir Dan-Iya, disclosed this at a media briefing in Sokoto.
